Norwich Report written by Katy
After sussing that there are bits of lockdown that can be enjoyable, with virtual meet-ups possible through Zoom, and with lots of activites on offer, Goodgym Norwich has got stuck in to having lots of socials (even though the report writing afterwards may not be our strength! )
So a few weeks ago i suggested that we try watching one of the free performances on offer, meeting up on Zoom for drinks beforehand. I have enjoyed going to the opera in the past, though it can be very expensive!!, When i saw that the Royal Opera House were making performances available to watch for free, I thought it a chance to see some high quality stuff without having to fork out the £200 each for tickets!
A few other Goodgymers agreed to meet me in 'the foyer' on Zoom for drinks prior to watching. Unfortunately i hadn't thought to check the length of the performance beforehand so we enjoyed a nice catch up with drinks at a leisurely pace without realising that we had a 3 hour performance ahead! We'd all made the effort to change out of our usual lockdown outfits and make a bit of an effort - except that in Dave's case he didn't go the whole way and kept his pyjama trousers on!
The music was lovely with beautiful singing but perhaps not the most convincing of plots with some strange dressing up to change identities as part of the plot.
We met up during the interval for another drink and chat with Dave admitting that he hadn't given the first half his 100% attention as he'd remembered that he had a loaf of bread cooking!
We resumed watching the second half though I think both Dave and Bobby decided to catch that another time.....
