On a lovely sunny Tuesday evening, 6 runners ran to help out at the first session of the year back at the Maidenhead Community Allotment, so there were plenty of jobs to be done.

The team quickly shared the jobs out and got stuck in.

Matt and Mateja both started with digging out the fig tree while Jen and Louisa emptied the water butt and created drainage holes ready for the repotting of the fig tree.

Laura and Louisa then helped Matt and Jen to carry the fig tree to its new home. After several attempts they managed to fit it into its new home (it was a bit of a tight squeeze!)

Meanwhile, both Juli and Mateja did a great job clearing two of the beds ready for lots of new replanting.

All was complete by 8pm before heading home.

Well done to Matt for his first community mission and also to Juli for her 10th good deed! Great work, thanks everyone!

This task supported

The Maidenhead Community Allotment is run by a group of volunteers, who grow food to share with local residents, the users of the Boyn Grove Community and Resource Centre and Maidenhead Foodshare. They work with Men in Sheds, who are based on the same site. Men in Sheds is an initiative to combat loneliness by providing a space for men to connect and chat over practical tasks.
