13 Runners ran 3km to clear the garden at Cranbrook Community Centre
Not deterred by a bit of rain, 13 runners met at Town Hall Hotel, ready to get running and do some good. Big shout out to our three new runners who joined us for the first time. Congratulations to Louise who’s nearly at the 50 good deed mark - one more to go! Help her over the line by giving her a cheer.
Off we set into the night, taking a circuitous route along the canal to Cranbrook Community Centre - shouting ‘bike!’ and ‘keep left!’ with military precision. We arrived at Cranbrook ready to get going and met Janet, the centre’s treasurer who told us more about how widely Cranbrook helps the local community - from mother and baby groups to Brazilian wellbeing sessions and vegetable planting. Cranbrook supports the local area in so many different ways and there’s plenty to be done that Janet’s got her eye on for GoodGym Tower Hamlets!
We split into two groups - shovelling and spreading compost (trying not to disappear into compost wonderland) on one side and clearing fallen leaves and weeds on the other. Over 20 minutes four beds were filled and several bags of leaves shifted. Janet was disbe-leaf-ing of how much we got done! We thanked Janet and jogged a lap of the centre, before completing three fast laps with 4 burpees and 3 press-ups at the end of each lap. High fives were well deserved all round for a great pulse-raising session.
Join us next week to do some more good in Tower Hamlets.
Keep running happy! Lucy
