It was a bright and cheery Saturday morning when Emma, Aimee, Fiona, Llion and Martin met at Victoria Square, Penarth to help the Friends of Victoria Square renovate the gardens.

Along with several other volunteers, we shifted clay-type soil, some other type of soil and top soil (never knew there were so many types) into the raised beds.

It was certainly a good work-out for an hour or so, after which we left. It will be interesting to go back in a month or so, to see how the gardens are coming along.

Friends of Victoria Square
Improving the open space around the Square for the benefit of the community and wildlife.

We are enabling the community volunteers to create, for the benefit of wildlife, wildflower areas, a bog garden, log piles, plant more trees, deadwood hedges and a create community garden to engage the community and provide a resource for social prescribing.
