Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
14 runners arrived at Basil Jellicoe Hall on a brrriiiiillliantly freeeezing Saturday morning to help set up a cream tea for local Origin Housing residents; GoodGym’s referral partner in Camden. The aim of the mission was simple: serve well brewed tea and do some matchmaking for coaches and GoodGymers yet to be paired.
Once we’d set up the tables and got some music on, we waited nervously for the older origin residents to arrive. Before we knew it, the hall was full of chatter, laughter and tea drinking.
With a little help from Quiz Master Steph 5 quiz teams put their heads together in the effort to win some markses after dinner mints. We should have known that we had no chance against GoodGymer Jenny’s dream team with her secret weapons Dol, Jean and Gladys who were all in their 80’s and seemed to know everything. Before we knew it they’d got 16/17 questions right and had bagged the after dinner mints.
But we were not deterred, for there was more cake and tea to be consumed which we all had no problem helping to polish off. By 1 o'clock we’d all had a lovely time and some new friendships had blossomed.
Special mention to Beth and Paul and Jemma and Annette, our lovely coach-runner pairs that came along. It was great to see the benefit of the connections made through GoodGym in person and the amazing relationships that have formed.
