At the UN Climate Change Conference December last year - a metaphorical red line was drawn, 195 countries adopted a deal to limit the damaging effects of climate change, it was a line that set out that these nations would not allow global warming to rise above 2 degrees C.

On Friday Good Gym created it’s own red-line - a team of 5 of us with our breathable branded red t-shirts forming a human chain, rising to the challenge and helping with the installation of a sculpture created by the children of Christchurch School - a willow hand holding a pencil, drawing a red line to raise awareness locally and kickstart a conversation about reducing emissions.

We lifted planters, bricks and the sculpture itself up onto the roof of the local Fish Restaurant Olley's and happily the only temperature that was rising was ours.

Health and Safety prevailed and we wisely kept our feet firmly on the ground but I’m chuffed to see the final results which everyone can admire from the train as you travel between Herne Hill and West Norwood.

This was my first mission and I chose to accept it - a quick run from Forest Hill to Brockwell park - a decent upper body work out shifting bricks, then a short hop back. Very rewarding and fun to meet fellow Good Gym”nasts”. What a lovely bunch.

We’ve all been invited back for Fish and Chips and this time it’ll be “on the house” - thanks Olley's!
