Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
5 GoodGymers ran 6k to Tower Hamlets Cemetery to rid the park of the pesky overgrown ivy. Throwing in some Hackney Half specific running training for good measure.
A special Hackney Half Marathon training session mixing in some great GoodGym volunteering and dominate some hardcore running.
Meeting in the vibrant Victoria park we set off of towards Mile End taking in as many different terrains as possible, mixing grass, road, rivers rail tow path before hitting the only Hill in Tower Hamlets. After a quick trip down in to asses the task in hand we got our form drills on mobilising and activating key muscles and joints.
Then we smashed out 4 Hill Repeats working hard all the way up the 300 metre incline then recovery jogging back down! Some serious effort and performances were on show powering up the hill.
With our legs needing a little rest we jogged across to Tower Hamlets Cemetery and got to work ridding a large section of the park of Ivy. 25 minutes of work and we had created a huge Ivy mountain! Will our work done we headed back over to Victoria Park.
With just enough time to get the second hard running session we fed our legs some big time speed with 4 times 1 minute hard reps! Keeping our eyes up, hips up and working hard all the way to the end.
Some deep breathing, a little jog and some static stretching finished off the session!
Hope to see you all again for the second and final Hackney Half training session on the 8th of April. As well as on one of the many great week day Group runs!
Smooth running
