The Millenium route is three kilometres of linked pathway taking in the Promenade, starting at Spur Redoubt near Clarence Pier, ending at The Hard. Katie, Maxine, Sinéad, Maura and Mel each took a section to try out and check the route, take photographs of notable places, statues, plaques etc. and include the what3words positional reference. The task was completed for Seekers Create to help with the production of an App and other virtual information to include in Seekers ‘Seek Your Spark’ programme ready to roll-out to young people from January 2021. The route is indicated by a chain motif set into the surface of the pathway, symbolising partnership between the communities of Portsmouth and Gosport and between past and present. Historically it also refers to the chain which used to be tightened across the harbour entrance at times of potential attack. I think we all learnt a lot from the task and it highlighted a lot of areas that we might never have explored.
