Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
An elegant eleven GoodGymmers helped to clear up three floors of unsold clothes, music and bric-a-brac after the St Joseph's Hospice first jumble sale of 2017 and spared the team hours of heavy lifting
The jumble sale is a really important event in the St Joseph's Hospice fundraising calendar (and also for local bargain hunters!) with recent sales raising funds in the region of £10,000. This helps St Joseph's Hospice to continue providing FREE support for people affected by serious illnesses as well as their families and friends. You can find out how to support them HERE.
Bargain Hunt
As the mercury rose and the sun began to shine London's bargain hunters sprung into action to find deals at St Joseph's Hospice's jumble sale. It's a huge bazaar sprawled over three floors.
I MUST remember to go early next time to nab a bargain and perhaps some old-school music to add to my playlists!
Legs eleven
Eleven runners from GoodGym comprised both veterans and mission newbies (welcome to Siobhan and Sarah)
Bargain hunters were still chasing down half-price deals after the official closing time but this helped to raise more money so no-one seemed to mind.
Trolley dashes, rattling cages and no strikes on these clothes rails
In the meantime, GoodGym started a military operation to methodically clear and close down segments of the sale starting with CDs, DVDs, vinyl and video games and then taking on:
There is a LOT to shift and it's a great workout lifting trays of media but, thankfully, we also had the use of big trolleys, cages and clothes rails.
We'd learnt to be careful about getting long dresses caught in the wheels of the rails so there were no disruptions to rail services today! We also know that you can fit three of the big trolleys into the lift though the first time Steve had to jump in a trolley to make room!
The lifts and staircases were always busy as were the GoodGym team (but we were also talking and having fun!).
It's a hard knock life before GoodGym
Anita from the St Joseph's team told me that the fundraising team once were still clearing at 7.30pm, already tired after an early start setting up the event, so the partnership with GoodGym has been a real boon.
We took about an hour-and-a-half and we were all happily exhausted from a great and rewarding workout.
Photo!!
FINALLY, we maintained the tradition of a GoodGym team photo with a piece of bric-a-brac or clothing: see for yourself!
Want to get involved next time?
Get your diaries out and guarantee yourself a workout, a bargain or two and a novelty photo at the summer jumble sale on Saturday 10th June. Miss it miss out!
