Today 5 GoodGymers plus one honorary member headed to Beeston Primary School to help transform their outdoor classroom. This area hasn't been used by the students in years as there's an open pond so it would be too dangerous.

We started clearing the pond but discovered a family of newt's & a frog living in there. We helped create a new home for them and then left part of the pond plants to hang loose so we could save the rest next time we go.

We also cleared the ivy from the walls and did some weeding. We got a lot done & it was a lovely, sunny day! We'll go back in March to finish off.

Well done guys. it was even worth a spider getting on the INSIDE of my coat as I discovered when I got home...I think the poor spider might now be deaf as a result!

Clearing the outdoor area so we can create a sensory, outdoor classroom

This outside space, once transformed, will support children to access outdoor activities, sensory experiences and environmental awareness. This space will support all children but in particular our most vulnerable children. It will also support teaching and learning and will encourage all children to make progress in many areas of the curriculum.
