Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Katie Welford
We had loads of brilliant new runners, which was fantastic as it was the coldest night of the year yet. We celebrated Rose reaching 50 good deeds and also Sarah, who has nice new hair, which is a bit shorter and a bit pink too.
Tom Benson dropped off the bat light but was TOO TIRED TO RUN. We were all left wondering why but never mind that, we had two tasks to do. Both of them were outside so we all wore as many warm things as we could manage and went outside for a nice warm up.
A smaller group led by John Hunter and the bat light went to the Moorlands Estate, where they were met by Karen plus two residents, Kathleen and Antonella. There was woodchip to be spread and weeds to SUPPRESS so they got on with it at speed with some nice exercises to keep warm along the way.
The rest headed off to Loughborough Farm, where there was more woodchip to be spread, this time on some new paths. Katie took some of the group off to do some fitness and before we all knew it, the task was finished! We did a bit of speedy running through the park before returning to Papa's for some stretching then ran off home to have a hot shower and maybe a baked potato, as those are very warm.
WELL DONE LAMBETH!
The Loughborough Farm is a community food growing project in Loughborough Junction. The Farm is well attended and goes from strength to strength since its launch in August 2013, which GoodGym Lambeth contributed to. They are now in the process of building a network of growing spaces around Loughborough Junction on pieces of land that are currently derelict or underused. Food grown is for local consumption and volunteers get training that can suppport them in finding employment.
