In a week that may or may not have seen the arrival of Flying Ant Day and when Gramps very nearly ate a cricket that flew into his face, it's perhaps not surprising that we had Beatles in our minds...

While My Secateur Gently Weeds

With the panache and charisma we've all come to expect from them, our Fab Four congregated outside Hornsey Library as if it was a rooftop in Savile Row for one more gig. They were there to help the Friends Group prepping the gardens of the library for a summery planting session this weekend - Here Comes The Sun!

When we got to task we realised Gramps hadn't brought the right tools but fear not, if there's ever a problem, with our Fab Four We Can Work It Out in no time. With A Little Help From My Friends we came up with a plan and very skillfully, like Maxwell's Silver Hammers, down came our secateurs and bang bang we made sure the weeding got under way.

We got a bit distracted by the beautiful library's architecture and royally branded plaques but after a few pics Here, There and Everywhere we did Get Back to work. In My Life I have never seen weeding done with such care and love. Gramps did face momentary pangs of guilt as we were pulling up some lovely flowery weeds and wondered whether we should just Let It Be but Charlie talked reason into him and it was Hello, Goodbye for the unwanted undergrowth.

to the tune of Eleanor Rigby In 45 minutes/ working speedily the weeding is done/ time to go home.

But not before some selfies and high fives. Then, we all took The Long And Winding Road back to our homes (or back to work in poor Gramps' case). A Hard Day's Night indeed.

ENOUGH OF THAT, IT'S OUR BIRTHDAY NEXT WEEK. COME!

We are 8 next week and we are having a party. Join us for a session at the Westbury Banks Nature Reserve, followed by beverages and bonhomie at The Westbury Pub.

Will you still need me/ will you still feed me/when I'm 8²
