Report written by Helen
Eleven heroic goodgymers met this evening at Leisureworld in Colchester for a fantastic group run to Old Heath and back. In the running news this week: we gave a huge congratulations to Tav on his parkrun PB, a cheer to Chrissie for helping to save a life this week, and heard about forthcoming races that have been booked (report back on your results guys!) Then, after some weaving about to warm up, a reverse headcount and picking up Stuart, we jogged up the road in the darkness to seek out our new task. Our destination was John Lampon Court, a residential home, where we met Charley, and were given brooms, gloves, green waste sacks, and litter pickers, and were tasked with clearing up in the garden at the back, and around the front of the building. Everyone got stuck in enthusiastically, and soon produced several bagfuls of leaves and weeds. It was a tricky task, as it was an unfamiliar venue for us, and it was dark, but luckily, the GoodGymers had their headtorches on, and were able to do a fantastic job in a really short time. Helen tried to take some photos of the team near the garden lights, with varying results, and even snapped a photo of Ian with a lamp shade on his head, but sadly, it didn't come out very well. Anyway, soon it was time to head back, and we made sure to keep an eye on each other, especially on the slippery leaves and wet pavements. There was no time for a fitness session this week (sorry guys!) as the run was slightly longer than we're used to doing, but going up East Hill got our heart rates up, so that was a bonus!! Remember to consider signing up for Mission runs or Coach Runs, and of course, future group runs on the website, and show some love for your fellow runners by giving them a 'cheer' (click on the megaphone icon).
Thanks everyone, great job tonight. Helen Eleven, out.
