Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Katherine (she/her)
8 Goodgymers returned to support Team Springboard CIC at their beautiful allotment.
Having not rained for a few weeks now, we had our work cut out with digging and weeding. With lots of different tasks to do it was a case of divide and conker (pun intended!)
Esther split us into groups with Lil and Sarah in charge of weeding, Susanne and Katherine getting a taste of what life must be like for firemen continuously filling up watering cans in order to soften the rock solid soil to help with the weeding - as well as giving all the pots on the allotment a desperately needed drink.
John got stuck in with the lawnmower helping to bring some order back to the overgrown grass whilst Nigel set to work on creating a new edge to one of the borders to stop the invading grass taking over where we've weeded before. Liz and Laura tried to make sense of the collection of unwanted items that other people have thrown away but will eventually find a second life on the allotment.
We all thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful weather and made the most of it whilst admiring the superb new pergola at the allotment whilst enjoying our obligatory tea and biscuits at the end of our task.
It was great to welcome back Susanne and especially lovely to welcome Sarah along to her first ever GoodGym task.
