It felt very odd to see 10 people in one (large) place but there was a big mound of manure that beeded moving and we LOVE that sort of thing.

Whilst it's a race againt time to get tasks conpleted before Lisa goes on maternity leave, we needed precision to make sure the manure went around the existing plants (large and small) and didn't swamp them. We were also tasked with finding out how deep the poles were dug into the ground in the polytunnel.

Excellent social distancing meant we could work on lots of different beds at once and the first shift made great progress. We'd split the task into two shifts for social distancing and to make sure no-one got too cold.

Shift 2 took over and the (soon-to-be-poly) tunnel beds were filled to brimming and the remaining manure pile was relocated to within the Urban Escape space.

Two-and-a-half hours later, Lisa was breathing a huge sigh of relief (behind her mask, of course!).

Youth Moves Urban Escape
Everyone Is Welcome. Everyone Is Valued. Everybody Matters

Urban Escape is based at the roundhouse and acre growing space at Springfield Allotments in Knowle and aims to reconnect young people and adults with nature, create lasting relationships and supporting local people on their journey through life. The project utilises a wide variety of outdoor activities, life skills and group work as the tool to engage the groups and build relationships. Hands on and creative activities throughout the year include bush craft, growing, foraging and cooking fresh food, natural arts and crafts, community engagement and social action projects. The Junior, Senior and Adult groups take ownership of their projects by choosing activities and trips at different points through the year. All three groups have a maximum of 10 young people/adults at any one time because of the tools and activities used for the sessions. http://www.youthmoves.org.uk/urban-escape
