Pretty chilly tonight but once you got moving actually perfect weather for running and doing good!

Weronika joined us for the first time tonight fitting in seamlessly as we ran and chatted towards our task along Brighton and Hove’s lovely seafront. During the warm up we’d discussed February’s form focus of posture and the importance of running tall and light on your feet with shoulders back and down and ear, shoulder, hip, knee and ankle in alignment. There will more pointers on posture as the month progresses so really think about it as you go for your runs.

The 3.5 kilometres flew by and we arrived at St Andrew’s ready to take on tonight’s task. Vicar Dan explained the church does lots of work in the community and provides shelter for the homeless during the winter months. The churchyard is used as a shortcut and people enjoy their lunch breaks there and it is also well used by the homeless community so its an important local communal space.

We had two jobs tonight, planting bedding plants in the raised beds in the gate and in the remembrance garden at the back and clearing large amounts of ivy and brambles from a low wall also in the remembrance garden. We asked who was feeling constructive/destructive and set to work on planting and clearing. In half an hour the job was done and we’d made a huge difference. We enjoyed a quick drink of orange kindly provided by the church and headed off for our fitness session in the lovely square at the foot of the i-360. We did pair work, one running whilst the other did pull ups, then press ups then one legged squats. Tabitha twisted her ankle on a small step but managed to walk back to base so hopefully nothing too serious. We wish you a speedy return to running!

Don’t forget our parkrun meet up at Hove Park on Saturday. See you there! And thanks again to Roy for the pun!
