We welcomed Kevin to his first session with GoodGym.

What hot summer afternoon it was! We knew that plants were thirsty in this summer's heat.

Gillian help to set up the hose and started watering plants with the hose. Roberta and Kevin watered back-yard tomatoes beds and other plants with watering cans.

We covered empty vegetable beds with weed suppressing membranes. We did some weeding and cropping overgrown grass around the edges of vegetable beds. Gillian even battled fast-growing brambles.

We chatted about each other's professions and found it's interesting to meet people from different industries.

What a lovely Friday afternoon! Refreshed weekend ahead for the plants!

The Maidenhead Community Allotment is run by a group of volunteers, who grow food to share with local residents, the users of the Boyn Grove Community and Resource Centre and Maidenhead Foodshare. They work with Men in Sheds, who are based on the same site. Men in Sheds is an initiative to combat loneliness by providing a space for men to connect and chat over practical tasks.
