Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Rachel (she/her)
Bee and I rocked up early on Thursday morning to help stuff the Sheffield Carers centre newsletter into envelopes, bundle them together and bag them into postal bags for distribution across Sheffield. Bee managed a couple of hours before heading back to a meeting at work. Completionist that I am, I had to stay until the bitter end. Several THOUSAND envelopes, hundreds of elastic bands and dozens of postal bags later, we were done.
The team, many of whom were regulars, said this task sometimes takes a couple of days, but with our help, it was done in 5 hours.
If anyone is interested in finding out more about Sheffield Carer's Centre or all the events going on for the upcoming Carer's week (10-16 June), more info can be found at https://sheffieldcarers.org.uk
Sheffield Carers Centre is a charity based in Sheffield who offer support, advice and information to unpaid carers across the city. We help over 9000 of the 50,000 carers in Sheffield, with over a 200 calls to our advice line a month, and a wide range of community events from coffee mornings to choirs for carers to come to. Sheffield City Council has also asked us to deliver Carer’s Needs Assessments to carers, which they are legally entitled to under the law. This allows unpaid carers access to support and financial assistance in a bespoke care package which we organise.
