Report written by Slough runner
A SER-iously dedicated bunch of GoodGym runners turned up on a sunny Saturday to give the Riverside Boatyard a good old tidy up.
Sut, Emily, Roisin and Ruth were antsy to get to work with their tools to finish up a task which was started last week.
On the way in from the car park Emily couldn't help but notice some idiots had overturned the bin and spilled rubbish everywhere. This was attracting foxes, as evidenced by their teeny footprints all over the side of the bin!
Litter picker in hand, she made short work of the mess and it was clean as could be in no time - all disposed of in the big blue bin. If only people would follow the sign's instructions - don't be a tosser!
Roisin was unstoppable - she got stuck in straight away and was a lean, mean, weeding machine. She did an amazing job of clearing the weeds from behind the boats.
With garden shears in hand, Super Sut was on a mission to cut back all the spiky greenery poking through the fence into the boatyard to make the place look nice and smart again.
Ruth also got to work with her trowel to dig up all the weeds, ducking under the boats to clear behind there too.
There was no show-boating in this task - everyone worked together for the benefit of the people of Slough who use this impressive facility.
Join us on Saturday 1 August at 10.30am for a task outside the boatyard.
Recreational rowing, kayaking and paddleboarding centre. Work with community groups to help improve the river environment
