Driven Forward are a brilliant local charity, who support vulnerable people with access to day trips, social activities, food and more. The charity are preparing to launch the Community Well-being Hub in it's place at Alexandra Gardens, which will provide everything from free training to free haircuts, so the order of the day was to tidy up the outside area to make it more welcoming. Juli, Anita and Sheila met up with GoodGym newcomer Lynn who has previously been a regular volunteer with Driven Forward. The task-owner Tia outlined the tasks for the morning, and we got straight to it. Juli set about picking up all the litter and sweeping up all the leaves in the compound. Anita, Lynn and Sheila were tasked with getting rid of all the rubbish and a huge pile of accumulated cardboard boxes into some commercial wheelie bins in the adjacent car park. The first batch of cardboard was loaded into a large plastic bag and dragged across to the bins. After that we refined our technique and made good use of an old shopping trolley and green wheelie bin, making several trips to transport the material to the (thankfully empty) bins. They weren't empty once we had finished! A great morning's work. Tia was delighted with the result - a much tidier and presentable outside area. As we left she said we had been a Whirlwind of Wonderfulness! Lovely to meet Lynn and we hope to meet you on another task soon! Look out for tomorrow's task to deep clean the the Driven Forward Community Fridge at their new location on Oxford Road https://www.goodgym.org/happenings/deep-clean-at-the-driven-forward-community-fridge

Helping the socially and economically disadvantaged

Driven Forward use their minibuses to help disadvantaged and vulnerable adults access social events, days out and activities. During the Covid-19 pandemic they have expanded to set up the 'Community Fridge' fresh foodbank and worked with the Windsor Homeless project to feed the homeless.
