Share the love

On this week's group run, 10 GoodGymmers met outside the Maidenhead Town Hall to help spread the word for the upcoming lantern parade 🏮. The organisers, Norden Farm, had shared some flyers and letters to be dropped into resident mailboxes along the parade route in the town centre.

As it was a bit nippy, run leader Amy set up a small course to get everyone warmed up - a musical chair of sorts, except with no music and no chairs, so really just a cones course with 8 cones for the 9 people. Each time she instructed, all nine were meant to run around the course until she yelled "stop". The one without a cone to call their own had to come up with an exercise for everyone. While Kanika looked for ways to not run/exercise, Rachel, Louise, Amy R, Gillian and Clara along with newcomers Steph and Bev (YAY for new members! Welcome!) ran around and managed to find cones. Georgeta seemed unable to land on one almost every time and so came up with some lunges, gate opening & closing etc for all (although, she might have secretly been enjoying coming up with the exercises 🤭).

All warmed up, the group split into two and headed in opposite directions to start the letter drops. Turns out, there are not many residences inside the town centre and shortly the groups met midway with a bulk of the leaflets un-dropped! We decided to go back around again and this time let the businesses have some of the letter love. Of course, this was Amy's cunning plan to get everyone back on the grass in front of the town hall for a fitness session.

Amy R and Kanika had to peel off as they had to join a zoom meeting for the Eco Action Hub. The rest were not so lucky...

The above was written by Kanika (thanks Kanika!) but Amy is filling in the last bit: ...the rest were VERY LUCKY because they got to stick around and enjoy circuits including everything from sumo squats (with optional sound effects) to planks and dancing. There was a lovely moment mid-way through where daughtr Steph turned to mum Bev and asked 'would you like to dance?' We also enjoyed a 2km walk along the Greenway and some stretches before we said our goodbyes.

The Norden Farm lantern parade is a lovely spectacle and celebration of creativity. Why not sign up to help out on the day? Click here and sign up to help during the parade from 4.15pm, and/or click here to join the post event mop-up from 6.15pm.

Norden Farm Centre for the Arts
We believe that everyone should have the chance to experience and participate in high quality, transformative and life enhancing arts events.

Norden Farm Centre for the Arts is built on the site of an ancient farm on the outskirts of Maidenhead, Berkshire in the South East of England. We are a thriving arts centre, averaging 150 events a season, and open 7 days a week. In 2016-17 we engaged with over 180,000 people. Our spaces include an art gallery, studio theatre, main auditorium for film and live performance, Café Bar, a Georgian farmhouse and 18th century Long Barn. The award winning architecture links the contemporary with the two listed buildings.

What a detailed report, Kanika! I'm very impressed, also a bit worried that you are on to me! ...😜 One day I may take over the lead of fitness session! 😆
