Bonjour! it's the french Axel!
It's time to prepare for Budapest Half Marathon and Hackney Half Marathon, and even if you're not racing one of these two all the sessions will be suitable for all race training and all ability!
Over the next 6 weeks we will run every Thursday alternating hills sessions in Mile End and threshold session in Victoria Park!
Question? Budapest and Hackney are flat, aren't they? why would you train on hills?
Answer: I love hills! More seriously, Hill sessions improve power and strength of your legs, then you'll feel like you're flying on a flat surface.
Question? How do I know that I've improved?
Answer: Session after session you'll find it easier
Question? Going up and down a hill is a bit boring, isn't it?
Answer: Yeap it might be! But, guess what? we will make it more fun and it will be split into a few sets!
Mile End, trust me, it doesn't look it, but it's hilly enough to do a hill session! We will also work on uphill and downhill technique, everyone one can run at his own pace and you'll be able to always cheers someone.
For these session we will meet at the entrance of the track of Mile End!
Questions? What does this word mean?
Answer: Threshold runs improve your lactate threshold.
Questions? Ok there is now two words that I don't understand!
Answer: The lactacte threshold is the moment when your body produce more lactic acid than it can remove. Basically it's the moment when your legs start to feel like burning. At Threshold effort you should be able to talk for 4-5 words
Questions? Why is it useful?
Answer: It will improve your running economy (using less oxygen while running a bit faster)
These sessions will be held in the small part of Victoria Park (West part), and we will meet at the Pavillion Cafe!
