About this session

FareShare Sussex & Surrey redistribute surplus food to almost 150 charities and community groups that turn it into meals.

This is our first GoodGym Brighton mission at their depot in Moulsecoomb, thanks to last year's Amaryllis initiative enquiring for the feasibility of a GoodGym session with FareShare in Brighton.

Here are the tasks that we are likely to do:

Moving carpet squares into the office area above the warehouse; Transferring Tesco donated food from trays of 20kg to smaller 10 kg trays, which are safer for to be handled.

In the pipeline for future sessions, there will be a van to clean and/or some catering at Fareshare fundraising events.

We will meet at Victoria Stutue in Victoria Gardens at 18:15 to leave soon after and no later than 18:30. The run is slightly longer than usual, so GoodGymers might decide to cycle to the task if so they wish.

FareShare Sussex depot is in Moulsecoomb, Unit 3-4 Fairway Business Centre, Westergate Road, Brighton BN2 4JZ

They take surplus food and then work hard to maximise its potential and social value by getting it to over 8,000 charities and community groups who support people in their communities

What to look out for

Make sure you've read our general guidelines for safety for taking part in a GoodGym session.

This is a GoodGym group run. You'll meet other GoodGymers at the start location and run to the task together. If you can't run for more than 15 minutes without stopping or you're worried about any aspect of the session, contact your area activator STEFANIA ROSSO (she/her) by email at stefania@goodgym.org.

Options are available to run between 4km and 8km in total.

Remember that we will be running to and from the task, so you'll only be running for half this distance in one go.
