Join GoodGym and the Teesdale and Hollybush TRA for an afternoon of hands-on gardening on one of East London’s largest estates.
The TRA, including the resident community garden group, have created orchards, family play areas, allotments, planters and plots for all to enjoy over the years.
With your help, we’ll help the team continue on the 2025 makeover, an overhaul of much-loved garden areas. This project has included the reconstruction of many planters, the creation of a new pond and the planting of dozens of new plants and young trees, many of which have been distributed to community groups all over the borough.
Come and be part of something fun, visible, and full of purpose!
Today’s activity may include weeding, planting, moving mulch and other practical outdoor tasks. All fitness abilities will be catered for.
There are toilets and secure storage at the location.
Please come dressed for outdoor gardening activities and running.
We will run to the task, where we will be based from 2:30 – 4pm.
If you’re running to the task, we will meet at 60 London Wall at 2pm and run to the task in Bethnal Green.
If you’re coming by public transport, the closest underground station is Bethnal Green. Directions: Use the Cambridge Heath Road (west side) exit, head a short way down Bethnal Green Road, and cross the road when you get to the Bethnal Green Tavern. Make your way up Ellsworth Street, and we will meet you at the roundabout at 2:30.
The Hollybush and Teesdale Estate Urban Growers project began in April 2009 in Rocky Park – a disused children’s play area. Now enjoyed by the whole community, the area includes seats and communal herb beds for all to use.

This is a GoodGym group run. You'll meet other GoodGymers at the start location and run to the task together. If you can't run for more than 15 minutes without stopping or you're worried about any aspect of the session, contact your area activator Laura Williams by email at laura@goodgym.org.
Options are available to run between 0km and 3km in total.
Remember that we will be running to and from the task, so you'll only be running for half this distance in one go.
Lucky enough to be the Area Activator for Tower Hamlets. Personal trainer. Seriously sweet tooth.
