Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Our annivrunsary was a cold but lovely affair with our lovely runners covering roughly 5km in pursuit of good deeds, trees and prizes!
We met at Old Spike despite lots of transport issues. Massive welcome to Bethan, Stephanie, Victoria and Jamie - thanks for coming and helping our birthday celebrations along. After a slight task delay with our previously arranged painting, we ended up warming up on the Rye and going off on a scavenger hunt.
So we had better get underway then...
Each team had a different route, Telegraph Hill Park had the hill and a cross borough borders challenge, Team Cemetery were the most competitive and Team Girl Power covered most of Dulwich in style completing an upside down and floating on swings shot of their team.
Most non-GoodGym runners happily received the GoodGym leaflets though some were clearly very happy with their headphones in and not talking to anyone so we left them alone. Once as many trees as possible had been spotted and litter had been picked, we met back on the Rye.
Points counted up, we got to the final round: The Relay Race
Slippery surface, cold breath, competitive spirit and GO
Out and back and a photo finish for Team Cemetery (Pritesh, Michael, Jamie and Claire) to win (despite them counting planted Christmas Trees!! Are they just trees?), Telegraph Hill Park team (James, Gila, Bethan and Jo) in 2nd place and Team Girl Power (Issy, Becky, Victoria and Stephanie) last in points but ahead in their adventurous picture compositions!
Time for celebrations...
Big up to the lovely Beth who not only features on the new GoodGym leaflets but also made us a delicious Lemon and Poppy seed cake. Did we mention that GoodGym Southwark turns 1 this week? Special thanks to Jay who made us mini victoria sponge cakes as well! What a great bunch.
Final stop... Pritesh bought tequila shots for Beth, Michael, Jo and Issy who had been at the GoodGym Southwark launch and we had a mini Wednesday night party whilst everyone else in the pub tried to quietly watch the football...
Lick, shot, slurp
Last special mention to James, one of our own who is moving to Denmark next week - thanks for being a friendly face and always getting stuck in. Hope they have a form of GoodGym that you can get involved in out there.
Running and good deeds done. Party time done. You're all brilliant.
