Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Bournemouth runner
This week, rather than go on a group run, we decided to go on solo runs throughout the day and share a smiling selfie of us in our GoodGym shirts with each other.
What can I say....it was amazing.
Receiving smiling photos throughout the day of people we deeply miss was an amazing experience and definitely brightened up our day and gave us a warm tingly feeling all day long! It's wonderful how under the worst circumstances people still find ways to connect and although this isn't the same as being together in person, it's different, but different doesn't have to mean worse.
The Facebook messenger group has been a lot more active in sharing how we are doing, posting photos and making sure we get a break from all the crazy that's going on.
The challenge of the run was to run between 5 and 10km, take a smiling selfie, as mentioned before and photograph the most colourful thing we came across. The distance is our usual GoodGym group run distance....where to run? Well, anywhere in Bournemouth or Derby in Tracey's case! Amazing to have someone join in from so far away! Give her a big, warm, Bournemouth cheer! Tracey hadn't done more than 5km in a long time but the training session motivated her to smash out over 7km! Brilliant effort! The came a cross a lifebuoy as her colourful object, but found the bluebells at home even more eye catching!
We had Sean do a cycling loop, Sue came across some vibrant Gorse, Caprice took the extra challenge of taking two puppies along for her run, Fredrika is stranded on the Isle of Wight but surrounded by beautiful scenery to make up for it. Karen found a lovely red bush that matched her GoodGym top, Marianne snapped the colourful flowerbeds opposite the Squirrel Cafe in Boscombe Gardens, Andrew, running along the Stour river came across a beautiful pink flowering bush....anyone know the name of it? Daryl, after finishing a tough day at work also escaped to the river for a run, Hannah matched her red shirt with a bright red Post Box, Charlotte was in a zone and forgot to take a pic, but treated us to a selfie with her cute cat whilst they cooled down together, Laura breezed through almost 13km around Southbourne and Iford and came across some bright buoys attached to a moored boat, I hugged a tree on my run and came across a beautiful little flower (Marigold?) but think the soles of my shoes were probably even brighter? Amber and Lisa also tuned in remotely but we couldn't get any pics in from them. Next time, I'm sure! Andrea also rewarded herself with a run and shared a pic of a bright pink flower in full bloom.....*** Note to self: I need to learn flower names....that would make the report a bit more informative***
Well done everyone, keep staying healthy and sharing positivity....that energy is contagious and the worlds more of that! We'll do another run next week with a slightly different challenge!
Good luck to those of you running missions to help the vulnerable, stay safe and amazing!
Big virtual hugs to you all!
So many photos!! I tried to upload them in order but it won't do it...so they're all scattered....like in a treasure hunt?
