The Ivy League
6 GoodGymers made their way to help their local community in Hackney.

It’s like a secret garden is St Thomas’. And with a hoard of plants guarding the secrets to colored cloth. The low lying humble Woad was used by the Celts and Germans to dye their clothes blue. Yellow comes from white yarrow/Mille flairs and the root of the rhubarb. Black hollyhocks is a fair mordant of cloth. Ivy, well that doesn’t help anyone. So we pulled it all off the wall. Hey ho. Fanny Wilkinson would have approved of our conduct. She was the first female professional horticulturist in the UK and designed St Thomas’ when the burial ground was closed. She was responsible for many London public parks to “bring beauty to the lives of the poor”. Thanks Fanny.
