Report written by Liz Pharoah
Well, that was a night of two firsts. But let's start at the important stuff. Tonight 9 GoodGym Coventry runners including Graeme who came for his first run, ran 9km to Carriers of Hope to help with the final preparations and warehouse sorting for the Christmas party.
As it was my 50th Good deed, it was the first outing of the GoodGym Coventry 50 badge- thanks team! The heavens opened as we were gathering the badge was stored safely away for the task. Having dodged puddles and avoided being drenched by cars, we were still pretty damp when we arrived at the task where the rain lightened a little. However, we arrived to find that the gates to the industrial units had been locked, but with our hosts stuck on the inside with no key and us on the outside. Whilst we waited to find out who had the key and how it was going to get to the unit, the GoodGym Coventry team did some slight incline sprints (almost hills). Time was ticking on, still no sign of the key. At the last moment, before we were about to return to Drapers, the key appeared, after the holder had leapt out of the bath to bring it to us. When Katie mentioned that some of the lifting she would do before heading home, we knew that we could delay our return and support Katie moving the gifts to their new location upstairs. Swiftly, the human chain was formed, Lil and Kevin scurried to the top and Graeme, Meera, Allan, Laura, Muntasir and James lifted the new donations in tehir chain to the top. All donations moved, we returned to Drapers and stretched. See you all next week for the (optional Secret Santa) Social and Group run :) Liz x
