24 bold GoodGymers ran 7k to Hackney Wick community garden to help transform the stunning riverside space!
Loving the great team work tonight! One of our longer GoodGym runs really tested out our endurance as we powered our way down towards the river only stopping hit up a few lower body and core strengthening exercises.
Arriving at the garden to meet Kirsty we split up into 3 groups. First group frantically filled a water Butt fishing crystal clear water from the river and emptying it into the huge water storage device.
The second group were a bunch of strippers!! Clearing tree branches of their leaves and creating a huge pile of wood to be used on the gardens open fire.
The final group were the diggers!! Removing barrow after barrow of gravel, earth to allow the removal of a huge ground lining so that the garden can expand and more can be grown in the coming weeks and months.
A huge 40 minutes effort from everyone, filled the water butt, stripped 300 branches and removed 80 square feet of ground lining and half a tone of earth!
Top work everyone!!
Fuelled by the amazingly generous oranges, biscuits and water we were off dominating the 3.5k route back to base! Great pack leading from Peter kept the group on the straight and narrow.
Hope to see you all again next week when we take our efforts to Abney Park Cemetery!
Quick reminder about the Hackney GoodGym Olympic team!! there are loads of events and a fun day in store so be great if we could get a full squad going!
Also London Marathon Ballet is Open you have until Friday to get your name into the hat so don't delay give it a go!!
Until next week
Smooth Running

The London Marathon Ballet sounds fun. Based on my one-legged balance in the warm up last night, I think I should give it a go!
