Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
On a chilly November evening, 7 amazing goodgymmers ran 6.5km to help out at Hanwell Community Centre!
We started off at Bodyline Studio, a few people having already ran from work (classic Graham) and we had a newbie in the form of Jonathan, a big welcome to you! Ankit was representing in his shiny new GoodGym tshirt and we were all ready to run to the historical building of Hanwell CC. Graham, Carmen and Jonathan took the lead and unfortunately...I went man down! Sometimes a bad stitch or dodgy day can happen to the best of us, that's what I always tell myself. So on arrival at Hanwell CC everyone else awesomely took the lead and were being swept away clearing out one of the many interesting tunnels in the building!! It is old and dusty and Charlie Chaplin used to go there!
We stopped for a little break to do some nice bodyweight leg strengthening drills, so the classic lunges, squats, single leg deadlifts and a few more new and interesting drills including the mega-low-squat to forward bend from Alex and the flapjack from Ankit hehe! Single leg strengtheners are such a good way to notice if perhaps one leg is stronger than the other and then to work to strengthen weaknesses. We also did some balance work which is great for core strengthening and teaching the muscles micro movements and improving proprioception (where you are in relation to other things!). So yay!
We did a quick little tidy up and a warm up to finish before shooting off back to BL with a mixture of slow steady jogging and some loop intervals chucked in there too. Overall a pretty awesome workout!
It is inspiring to me to see so many eager people dedicating their evening to running AND helping their community every Tuesday! You are all just awesome and it is a pleasure to see you there every week. I can't wait for Parkrun and Brunch this Saturday!!
Next week we're heading to Hanwell Community Centre, it's going to be a whole lot of fun. SIGN UP HERE!
