Report written by Martha Price
It’s officially head torch season! We headed up the hill for some clearing of the path. We were on a mission to dig out as many weeds as possible, put the wood-chip on top and keep an eye out for the lovely fox all at the same time.
We had plenty of lights to guide the way and headed home with some fresh produce. Ready to come back next week and take on the path (and the the rope swing)...
Urban Escape is based at the roundhouse and acre growing space at Springfield Allotments in Knowle and aims to reconnect young people and adults with nature, create lasting relationships and supporting local people on their journey through life. The project utilises a wide variety of outdoor activities, life skills and group work as the tool to engage the groups and build relationships. Hands on and creative activities throughout the year include bush craft, growing, foraging and cooking fresh food, natural arts and crafts, community engagement and social action projects. The Junior, Senior and Adult groups take ownership of their projects by choosing activities and trips at different points through the year. All three groups have a maximum of 10 young people/adults at any one time because of the tools and activities used for the sessions. http://www.youthmoves.org.uk/urban-escape
