Report written by Bournemouth runner
After having to cancel our original task of gardening due to the recent poor weather we managed to re-organise ourselves pretty quickly and head over to Hope Housing. Before that we were delighted to welcome back Ross who surprised us just as we were about to head out! What a lovely surprise! We also had Jodie along who is slowly recovering from injury and still managing to run 10k charity runs on weekends! Amazing effort!
After talking to Caprice and Daryl about their crazy efforts at the Larmer Tree Races, where Daryl ran a Half Marathon distance and Caprice the full Marathon...in absolutely mental weather. Gale force winds and steep steep hills were "undulating" is an understatement!!! Amazing medals too, well worthy of their efforts! And we're lucky to have them back with us this week already, nothing stops them!
We also got some fantastic news from Neighbourly who nominated us for a donation of £200 to help us provide environmental clean ups in the Bournemouth area. We will have to have e planning meeting next week after GoodGym to brain storm on what best to invest it in. Maybe some lights for dark task? Litter pickers? All suggestions welcome.
We headed straight to Hope Housing to help Mark move some furniture around. It was great to be indoors will how windy it has been recently. We moved lots of sheets out of the way and made space for a sofa.....zipping up the cushions seemed like an easy task but one was a little tricky, with 2 of us failing before Grace stepped in to take care of it!
They are painting the room which used to be the residents gym, so that all had to go in the room next door. A very quick and easy job for 10 of us, but probably would have taken Mark a good few hours!
After we were done we took the long way home to gain some extra kilometers and the gang opted for a zigzag run rather than intervals....the zig zag did take us out of the wind momentarily! We also had time to celebrate being the 23rd GoodGym Location that was launched, with a very creative take.....and some soggy socks to boot! Trainers making up the 23 and on sand from our stunning beaches here in Bournemouth.
A lovely evening of helping others, chatting to lots of lovely people and doing exercise!
Next week we are flyer dropping and after we are going for a drink at the Goat and Tricycle. Come and join us for both....or only one....
