SESSION ORGANISER
Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
An amazing 48 people ran 7km and lifted tons of concrete mix for Grounded Ecotherapy at Southbank Centre!
Welcome along to newbies Andy and Laura, great to have you along - what a first task!
It was the biggest task of the year and we had the biggest group! Thank you for coming along. Grounded Ecotherapy are an amazing organisation which help people in rehab through gardening work across London. They've been commissioned by the Southbank Centre to produce a Chelsea Flower Show style replanting project. It was our task to help get them on their way tonight.
Heading out of Camden!
We headed down through the streets of Camden and Westminster in three groups led by Pritesh, Chris and myself. The light was still setting over the Thames and we were ready for our task!
Upon each groups arrival Paul from Grounded Ecotherapy explained the task: in pairs we'd take bags filled with concrete mix up the stairs to lay on to the flower beds. This would then be stomped on by GG-ers and Grounded Eco-ers to get the consistency right.
Concrete lift
As more and more people arrived the task and the work got ever faster, we smashed through the task in 25 minutes when it was predicted it would take us an hour to finish - well done everyone! That's pretty much a weeks work for one person, pretty crazy how much we can do in such a short space of time.
After some group pictures we headed back to base in two groups and stretched out before heading to the pub.
Remember the GG Monthly Drinks are next Thursday at the Marquis of Cornwallis near Russell Square, see details here.
Sign up to next week here, we'll be leafleting and compost shovelling for Abbey Community Centre - 5km & 10km options.
PB out.
