Awesome evening where 17 BMX Bandits hit the streets of Southwark to give back to a wheely good cause! Brilliant run report written by the GG legend that is Tom Benson.

Well what a corker, last night around 17 GoodGym Southwark folks descended upon the amazing Burgess park BMX track for what turned out to be very much fitness and fun.

We were greeted by the Peckham BMX team led by Ck and his free wheeling guys are an amazing bunch of young kids that range from all ages and are super quick riders.

These guys know their BMX onions, around 70% of the Olympic BMX squad are former Peckham students and judging by last night that figure isn’t going to change any time soon. Also the park is amazing - 350m of lumps and jumps ready for all BMX needs, I was gutted we didn’t get a chance to have a spin on the track. You can actually watch the full story about these guys in their film - One way up the story of Peckham bmx Available on netflix!

So we thought we were there to wrap presents for the upcoming Christmas Party, however they certainly had other things in mind. So before we did our good deed, we were put through a fitness session they do during their rides. This involved many tiring things, highlights included doing planks, jumps up to your chest, touching your toes and all sorts basically they all had one thing in common they were very tiring and after 10 mins I was officially done.

What we found out was these riders do this 4 times each night, no wonder some of them become Olympic riders in the end. I reckon If I did four of those a night I would be beating Usain Bolt in no time.

Right after burning off all the calories it was down to business we had a shed load of presents to wrap and not much time to do it in. Buoyed on by the fact we had just done drills in super quick time this set the tone as we quickly aligned into teams of cutters, sellotapers and wrapper, basically all in all we were a well-oiled machine. In no time at all we had wrapped up all the boxes and it was high fives all around, we even managed to get home bang on 20:30.

All in all it was a corker of a task, nice one team Southwark.
