9 Goodgymmers ran just under 5km to pick litter in Melbourne
We met outside Mildmay Gym for our second Goodgym of 2019, and welcomed Andy for his first good deed! Thankfully the rain cleared by 6.30pm, so we just had the dark and cold to brave. Catherine volunteered to back-mark, and was given the privilege of the Specsavers hi-vis vest (thanks Ken).
After a quick warm up, we set off on a gentle jog up First Avenue to North Avenue roundabout. Sharing out the bags and splitting into little groups, we all picked areas to work on. Unfortunately there was a lot of litter on the roundabout, and surrounding pavements, so we didn't move very far along Melbourne Avenue. Fortunately for us, the quantity of litter kept us moving on a cold January evening.
Once the bags were disposed of, we set off along Partridge Avenue and Patching Hall Lane, with Joel leading the way. Catherine left us just before the Avenues, passing the Specsavers beacon to Rachel for the rest of the run. For a last bit of fitness fun, the group completed some Avenue sprints before heading back to ARU.
We ran back, stretched and discussed the next social. With some of the group taking part in dry/vegetarian January, we don't want to inflict torture, so maybe the alcohol fuelled meat feast can wait until February. Maybe.
Lastly, thank you Joseph for the egg-cellent pun!
Next week, David is your run leader, and the task will be confirmed soon.
