Report written by Alex Eggs
It was a marvellous night for jaunt across Cambridge Heath Road to pay a visit to our friends at Rocky Park. As the heat of the May afternoon calmed, our 23-strong crew set to work on weeding flowerbeds & the edge of the vegetable patches, cutting back hedges and relieving the compost heap & surrounding area of the overgrowth.
A special welcome to our new starters Moritz, Lianne, Jo & Milly & to Charlene & Edoardo paid our lovely Tower Hamlets crew a visit for the first time
After a solid 45 minutes work, the park was looking fantastic. To name but a few wonderful gardening stories from the evening, Rowena got an expert tutorial from our task owner on how to turn soil, whilst Tracey did a sterling job on what was her inauguration into the world of edging! What's more, dozens of snails were chauffeured from a glorious orange bucket to their palace by those working in the beds - a good job well done!
After we bid goodbye to ol' Rocky, we went for a quick warm up, followed by a Meet & Retreat running drill, then a gentle run along the canal. Parched by the balmy weather, we had a quick water pit stop in Vicky Park before splitting into groups for some single file sprints, then a nice jog home.
Many thanks to all those who came tonight & look forward to seeing you all again! The wonderful Will is taking us to meet the Victoria Park rangers for a local task, which you can sign up to here.
Well done & happy running!
