Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Sam Lefevre (he/him)
Five GoodGymers braved the bitterly cold weather to help Bex with a few chores at Surrey Docks Farm.
We all started in the goats pen as the goats were just coming out of their homes for a mingle. The system of sweeping goats droppings downhill and collecting at the bottom worked a charm as we bashed out this task within minutes! Strength in numbers!
Heading back to the garden shed to get new gardening tools, Anna and Emily concentrated on taking down the old and dead hops from the fence.
Jenny, Matthew and Sam were responsible for weeding and moving / mulching with woodchip.
Finally, the final task before we feed the sheep was to bag up 8 bags of manure.
All these tasks kept as warm as we were always in motion, but some of us couldn't deny the chance for a coffee in the cafe or a browse in the Farm shop.
Don't forget there's one more Surrey Docks Farm session next Sunday - final one of the year.
Surrey Docks Farm is run by a charity and provides education for school children, young people and adults with learning difficulties. Our work helps with essential maintenance and helps them keep the farm operating.
