8 runners ran 8.5k to help Grounded Enterprises of Boscombe

The darker evenings have arrived but that didn't stop 8 runners meeting for the weekly run...this time to a new task on a rooftop in Boscombe!

A big welcome to new comer Kirstin ( hope we didn't scare you off!) , and great to see Steph and Clarice return to the GoodGym team.

After a brief warmup and welcome , we headed off at a smart pace towards Bournemouth pier and then swung a left towards Boscombe. Up through the chine ( a new hill was discovered! Yay!) put the team through their paces as we snaked towards the Sovereign centre. Running through an empty shopping mall brought up some scary movie memories ( thanks George Romero ) , especially when we found our path blocked by locked doors ! A quick elevator ride to the top floor found Michael of Grounded enterprises waiting to greet us on the roof, and all was well!

Grounded enterprises have big plans for the community space on the roof of the Sovereign centre....growing fruit and veg for disadvantaged groups , pop up dance and yoga events, open air cinemas and sports events as well. It was great to able to help . A brilliant community project. Tonight we were sorting and moving pallets...lots of pallets....and even more pallets! The team worked hard and there was a great sense of satisfaction once the last pallet was shifted...until next time! Looking forward to seeing the space develop over the coming months.

After saying our goodbyes we blitzed our way back to town , even a strong headwind couldn't dampen the spirit! A last dash up the hill towards Flirt and the job was done and a fab workout completed!

Awesome running by all tonight , especially Kirstin who has largely run indoors until now....no going back now!

See you all next week as we head back to the secret garden for a rubble rousing skip loading session :)
