16 GGers ran 4-5km to help Thornhill Square Gardens with tons of tasks!

Welcome along to newbie Leah - whose first time it was last night!

In the news this week:

  1. Well done to Graham who smashed a 10k PB on Saturday - nice!
  2. Good work on those who did the community mission at CREOS on Sunday. You can sign up to the next on 14 April here.
  3. Best of luck to all those doing the Monsail Trail Races this weekend. You can find out more races here.

We started the evening by doing a pre-run 9 photo for the 50th GoodGym Launch celebrations we ate the biscuits needed for the photo. Smart.

Then onto our warm up before heading to Thornhill Square Gardens where we got slightly split up on the way there but arrived simultaneously. Excellent.

Tons of tasks!

Anna tasked us with the following:

  • Steve, Sofia, Dan and Graham hoed and weeded the main walkway - scraping away the overgrown weeds and bagging it up.
  • Heather, Steve Lee and Hannah got to work clipping back brambles, ivy and weeding an area of the park we previously cleared.
  • Team Claire planted some lovely flowers and bulbs in different places across the park.
  • Chris, Dan, Leah, Alix, James and Caz shovelled, wheelbarrowed and spread tons of top soil in three different locations around the square.

After 30 mins of work we were done. We helped Anna put the tools away and then headed to the Emirates for a time trial and biscuits round 2. Nice!

Sign up for next week here when we'll be helping Newington Green Alliance.

A quiet oasis off Caledonian Road with plenty of space to picnic, rest, read, and walk a dog.

'A quiet oasis off Caledonian Road. Plenty of space (it is the largest square in Islington) to picnic, rest, read, admire the flowers shrubs and trees, and walk a dog. Volunteers, with the council are working to encourage healthy activities, including walking and yoga, and also to improve the diversity of wildlife in the park.'
