Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
32 daring GoodGym runners scanned the streets of Lambeth for leftover Christmas trees and dropped over 20 at the recycling centre
It was a cold, cold January night and so a nice warm up was in order. After welcoming our lovely newcomers, we headed out onto the basketball court at Papa's to get moving before splitting into two groups to go on a Christmas tree hunt!
Team PINE was led by James, with Tom Hunter in support. They scanned the area around Papa's and came up trumps, finding 7 trees that they took over to Clapham Common's TREECYCLING zone.
Shout out to newcomer Cam, who carried THREE TREES at once. Wowee
Team NEEDLES was led by Katie, with Steve in support. They zipped up to Lyham Road and Clapham Park area, Whilst at first it was thin pickings, things got exciting when a tree was spied. Except, it was a fake tree - RATS! Not deterred from the mission, the group covered a good 5km and ended up finding over 10 trees!
Not satisfied with the task in hand, Vicki was determined to clear up her manor, so took a small team back down to Clapham North to fetch a rogue tree she had seen earlier on. Returning to the treecycling zone on Clapham Common with two trees in hand, we all celebrated a job well done.
With that, we did some speed work on Clapham Common before heading back home for some stretches, during which time Tom Benson told us all about the Race to Oxford in February, the Larmer Tree races in March and Riga running festival in May, where 100 GoodGymers will go abroad! Get involved and come race with us!
Great running tonight everyone :)
