Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
This week the team ran 6km and doubled up on tasks!
As GoodGymers, we know a run is not complete without incorporating a bit of hard graft that makes the community we live in just that little bit better.....it also makes us feel damn good too!! So this week we were pleased we had the opportunity to get 2 jobs done across Kings Park and Boscombe.
Our happy, dry and actually warm gang headed off for our Wednesday session, starting with a nicely paced jog up from the pier and inland to Kings Park. The streets were eerily quiet - something about half term - the world is hibernating!
Kings Park has had an awesome new play area constructed and our aim was to scope it out for rubbish and bits, bobs the kids had left behind. We armed ourselves with torches and gloves and swept through the the playground collecting 2 bags of rubbish. Finding one odd contraption which having googled could be this: https://www.imprintitems.com/drinkware/watersportsbottle/k9
Feeling pleased with ourselves we ran over to some spots of heavy graffiti and used specialist wipes given to us by the council to get cleaning the unsightly 'not art' off the walls. Our regular runner Abi drew parallels to her graffiti projects with schools - art v vandalism debate.... We definitely were targeting vandalism and managed to scrub vast areas clean. The wipes were super strength and took (even the boys') nail varnish off ;)
We had to pick our way through the dark overcliff to the beach where we had time for some fartlek on the sand and between lampposts. Short and sweet with some stitches - just how it should be!
Back at HQ we warmed down and chatted through the new mission runs coming to Bournemouth. Get your docs to me for DBS checking and you can get involved!
Thanks team for you help - until next week.....
