It was all aboard the goodship Lambeth as 47 fabulous runners had a sweaty run down to Kennington Park & St. Mark's Primary School to litter pick and paint a pirate ship!
It was a wonderfully sunny evening and Lambeth was up for doing some serious good. We had a bunch of work colleagues, lots of other brilliant new folk and even Andrea who hails from Columbia. Initially nervous that she wasn't going to speak enough English, we soon found her a friendly Spanish speaker and she was off. MUY BUENO!
Tonight we had two tasks. Team 1 was led by James K-B, they headed down to Oval to St. Mark's Primary. Their herb garden pirate ship needed a repaint and there was also some sanding, digging and sawing. GREAT WORK ME HEARTIES!
Team 2 was led by Steve and it was down in Kennington Park. The Friends of KP keep it all clean, fresh and nice for the community to enjoy. There was some litter that needed some serious picking, as well as some rose beds that needed some serious weeding. So litter pick and weed we did!!! It was a valiant effort and absolutely no-one had to walk the plank. Among the goods we plundered during the litter pick were a PAIR OF PANTS and an UMBRELLA.
A tale involving paint, pirates, pants and umbrellas. Sure its not a pun but its a book I want to read! Said Tom Benson
We did a solid fitness session involving sprinting, press ups, squats, lunges, burpees and planks then headed back home for a good old stretch.
Excellent work and see you all next week!
Friends of Kennington Park support Kennington Park and keep it green, litter free and well managed.
