It was a very long time ago that we first heard that Sixways Community Centre needed help with painting their fence. For one reason or another, it has taken us a while to lock the task in, but finally on Saturday we made it!

Julia, Nigel and Rachel headed to Sixways, home to the Nottingham City Gymnastics Club where we were met by Amy who had brushes, paint and some scraping tools for us. We were joined by a group of enthusiastic parents whose children were in the gym that morning, and we set to work.

The entire perimeter fence around the centre needs a lick of paint, but we were told to start with the main gate to get the ball rolling. A lot of the existing paint was flaking off, so everything needed a good scraping down first. We realised we only had a couple of wire brushes for scraping, so in true GoodGym style a couple of us did a spot of weeding around the gates whilst we waited to start the painting. It was a slow process but after 90 minutes we had pretty much finished the gates, which looked as good as new (from a distance!).

It was a lovely sunny morning for this task, and working and chatting to the other parents was really fun. We would love to return to do more of the fence at some point.
