Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Joel Wiles
22 Happy GoodGymers ran 2k to help Wilton Estate community Garden to shift a tonne of Wood Chip, 2 tonne of stones and sand 3 oversized wooden sculptures.
Great to welcome a GoodGym first timer and Hackney GoodGym first timer or 2 to the crew for a firm favourite task! To break from the longer Running norm of the last few months we switched it up with a shorter run mixed in with some focused running form conditioning on the way and a Exercise Roulette Circuit post task.
Setting off let by Peter we got a nice pulse raiser going before hitting a multitude of running specific drills, plyometrics, and body weight conditioning exercises in 10 solid minutes of action before a short almost recovery run to Wilton Estate with the bunny hopping fresh in our legs.
Meeting the lovely Debbie who as always had a great series of tasks for us! We had the sanders who rubbed the wooden animal sculptures to within an inch of their lives so they were ready for re varnishing! The ** Badger, Owl and Madagascan Newt** looped primed for their 2017 coat after we were done with them!
With Peter single handedly dealing with an epic watering feat carrying seemingly endless loads of water from the tap to the garden in watering cans the rest of the group cracked on with the shifting!
Shovelling up a tonne of Wood chip which was covering the path to the garden fishing out a load of logs as we went where Anne was waiting to get raking all the wood chip into the perfect depth and location! The squeaky wheelbarrow hard to summon all it's might to allow the transportation of 2 tonnes of stones to the herb garden.
40 minutes of intense action and all the wood chip cleared we were done and to celebrate we smashed out 12 minutes of exercise Roulette on the basketball court. 30 seconds per exercise with no rest between was a tough but great way to increase the fitness on a shorter running day!
A speedy 1k run back and a stretch out rounded off a top sunny evening!!
Best of luck to ** Tom** this weekend who tackles the 24 in 24 challenge for charity!! If you fancy sponsoring him please find all the information on this crazy exercise challenge here
Have a great week and see you next time
