Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Tim Dickson
Last night it was time to head back to help our good friends at the Old English Gardens. It's one of our favorite places. In fact we love it so much we are planning on adopting one of the garden patches there. Yep, our very own Bexley GoodGym garden, yay!!
Yep, our very own Bexley GoodGym Garden
On arrival we had 2 tasks to conquer, so after a quick safety briefing it was time to get down to business. What i really like about tasks is you can also learn so much. Mulch? I'd never heard of it, let alone know what it was used for. By the end of the evening we found out that it helped keep weeds at bay and made them easier to pull as they could not take root in the ground as easy, that it helped make the soil good, so helping the plants grow strong an healthy. Oh, and it look pretty good too. After this evening i can also tell you that shoveling mulch into the wheelbarrows is also a great upper body workout. Our second team was working on the weeding and bordering. Let me tell you, we gave those hedges a proper hair cut. You"ll be surprised what bordering can do. It really changes the look of the gardens, it makes them look so tidy. Tonights task was full on and took everything we had to get it completed on time, but complete it in time we did. I don't know if anyone else noticed but it looks like the evenings are getting darker earlier too. Having said this it was really nice finishing our task to some light refreshments and chatting about our accomplishment as the sun came down. Ok, it was back to business and we still had to get back to basecamp Crooklog, so as promised (i don't like to disappoint) we had a sprint session so to reach our destination quicker. Yep, i could tell by everyones faces at the finish line that you really enjoyed it (haha). Well after some some chat about future tasks we were all finished for another week. As always it was so much fun, which lovely company, and as always you guys smashed it..............
