Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Adele Prince
Covering 4km of running, four awesome athletes spread the word about the St Christopher's Fun Walk.
A big thank you to Bradley for this week's title pun, top quality!
Also, well done to Bradley on his success in the Victoria Park Half-Marathon over the weekend...where he came second!! Wowee!
Talking of races, the entries are now live for the Dino Dash Relay on June 12th, so get entering! Another lovely local race is also open, but is not until October (though it does sell out, so don't leave it too late. Sign up to the wonderful Petts Wood 10k here (there are samosas at the end, yum!).
Well, everyone seems to have had a super Bank Holiday weekend, so much so that they were too exhausted to come out and do good this evening (we do know that some people were working though!). Massive kudos to our intrepid three, Ian, Tim and Bradley, for turning up and bouncing around eagerly to get on with the task in hand. This week we were spreading the word about the St Christopher's Hospice Fun Walk. The event is happening on Sunday May 19th and offers the chance to walk 3, 5, 8 or 11 miles. Our job was to deliver flyers for the event, so I planned a fun 'scavenger hunt' style challenge to really keep everyone on their toes.
If we had had a bigger group tonight, this might have become a competitive challenge but, with Ian and Bradley running together (and Tim sadly heading home, feeling under the weather - though flyering as he went!), we opted to try and complete the challenges and take lots of photos along the way. I'm sure you'll agree that the team managed to spot some interesting sights and captured the fun of the evening. One of the challenges was to bring back some 'treasure', with Ian finding a Jamaican flag - pretty cool - while I found a parakeet feather, whilst watching a goose attack a fox on dinosaur island (you couldn't make that scene up could you?!).
After enjoying our findings and acknowledging just how many flyers had been posted, it was time to take on the GoodGym Bromley Summer Time Trial. We have run this 1km lap before, but usually have to take a break from it in the winter because it's too dark to see where we're going. This time we have a sparkly new Strava segment too, so people can appear on the leaderboard and try and beat their time each month. Before setting off, we did some running drills to encourage good form on the way round and some dynamic stretching to make sure we were fully warmed up. Really great work and strong effort from Bradley and Ian.
Next week we will head up the hill to the Crystal Palace Museum, where we are going to do some work on the path, which is getting closer to being finished - see you there?!
