We're a group of Bromley residents who get our exercise and feel-good fix by running, walking and/or cycling to help out community projects and older people across the borough.🚶♂️🏃♀️🚴
Our sessions are super varied. You could be...
🌱 Planting tree saplings in Cator Park
🎨 Painting walls at Valley Primary School
🛠 Creating growing beds at a community garden
🥫 Moving stock at Living Well food bank
💡 Changing a lightbulb or having a social chat with an older person
From Crystal Palace to Penge to Beckenham to Bromley and beyond, we connect with our community and make Bromley a better place to live.
What does a GoodGym session look like?
Our Monday and Tuesday evening sessions usually have a 2-3km jog, a 30-minute task, and then a 2-3km jog back. At weekends we just meet at the task.
Do I have to run?
Nope. We occasionally have a walking group at our Monday/Tuesday sessions but you can also just meet us at the task. If you’re keen to get into running, you’ll quickly build up your fitness and we always have a back marker so no one gets left behind.
Do I need gardening experience?
Nope, but do bring gardening gloves to gardening tasks if you can.
What are missions and social visits?
Missions are quick tasks that support older people, and social visits are 30-minute chats with an isolated, older person. To do these you need to get a DBS check.
How often do I have to attend?
GoodGym is meant to be super flexible to fit around your life. There’s zero commitment so if it turns out not to be for you, that’s ok 👍
How much is it?
Free! If you want to get your red GoodGym t-shirt we ask if you’d like to donate to the GoodGym charity but you don’t have to.
