11 awesome runners ran 3km to shift soil and pot plants at Christchurch School Garden!

It was a chilly one last night and it's evenings like that where we see only the most hardy and brave runners out doing good! Well done gang! Winter miles for summer smiles :)

Our penultimate run of the year took us to Christchurch school where we had 1.5 tonnes of soil to shift and some donated spiky plants to pot!

We were greeted by the super lovely Fiona and Patrick who you may recognise from a few tasks that we have done in various locations around Greenwich! Gloves were distributed and everyone got going! Grabbing plants, shovels, pots, wheelbarrows.. the lot!

The plants were moved to the garden first of all and then the shovelling began. The giant pots were put in place and then filled with bricks and soil followed by the plants on top! The gaps were filled with more soil and once that was done it was time to get the rest of the soil and bring it round the back....

The drag technique was the tekkers of choice until we reached the grass........... for the grass's sake we decided to lighten the load a bit and brought round a few more wheelbarrows to empty the bag further. Once it had reached that sweet spot, it was effortlessly dragged over to the back of the garden with little to no damage to the grass and people's backs... NICE ONE TEAM!!!

By this point there was not much feeling in our fingers or toes so we took a quick photo and then it was time to jog on and get warm!!!

We arrived back at the uni for a little meet and retreat exercise to get the blood flowing and the heart pumping! The idea being that if you stay at a consistent pace, you and your partner should both arrive back at the start at the same time... in reality this was not the case but still great running all round and great to see you a bit puffed! After 2 rounds, we called it a night!

Links that I mentioned...

Here is the long run I was talking about. It starts from the Thames Barrier and goes all the way to Tower Bridge. They are stopping off at the Cutty Sark so you can join then if you like! Details in the link :)

Also here are the two community missions that I mentioned which sounded quite fun! There is the Christmas tree distribution in Beckenham and carol singing and event prep near Victoria Park! Lots of festive good deeds to be done!

Great work last night everyone! Awesome job shifting all that soil, it would have taken them hours to do that themselves so well done!!! See you next week for the Christmas special! Our LAST RUN OF 2018!!!!
