Camden Report written by Alex Murtough (he/him)
10 wonderful GoodGymers made a HUGE difference... amidst the beats of a city festival!
Regent's Park is usually a sanctuary of peace โ there's green and trees, flowers too โ and you can often escape the sounds and bustle of nearby Camden.
But last night... we arrived to beats and drops and cheers... as well as three hefty security people guarding our entrance to the (wonderfully hidden) tool yard!
Pete โ all round Camden nature hero โ soon smoothed the way and we arrived at a yard that was desperate for a little GoodGym TLC :)
Our special group โ Alex, Caitlin, Emily, Jackie, John, Michael, Natalia, Pete, and Steve โ swiftly split into groups:
Michael and Jackie started by sorting and folding the pile of garden sacks โ the holed sorted from the non-holed, and everything tidied and ready for use! And they then picked brooms and swept the yard to shine!
Alex and Natalia grabbed shears and tackled a Jumanji-esque patch of vines โ they cleared everything and it was wonderful!
Caitlin, Emily, John, and Steve made light work of a pile of wood (keeping the larger bits that can be used for poles or building), before raking and sweeping and bagging a mountain of leaves (sifting the plastic trash from it as they did!)
And Pete was here and there and everywhere coordinating everything!
The yard looked liked a different yard at the end โ a huge difference โ even if we didn't quite get the peace we'd envisaged!
Thanks everyone!

Greenwich Report written by Sarah M
Tonight's task for GoodGym Greenwich brought us back to St Richard's Church in Charlton, where we're working on a ongoing project to make the outside area, formerly a weeded wilderness, a more user-friendly, comfortable area for the community.
For anyone following this project, we've battled rebellious plant life, embraced our inner cave people by fashioning our own tools for staple administration, and turned mountains (of woodchip) into molehills.
So on a lovely rainy breezy sunny evening in June, 7 goodgym-ers got to work continuing with this process. First the cardboard had to come up, which has helped restrict weed growth, then it was back to our routine we've got going now of digging, membraning and spreading the pine-scented woodchip, and with lots of chatter, the task time flew by. Time for a quick group photo and update on plans for the area, before our ways parted until next time! Thanks all & have a good week ๐

Camden Report written by Alex Murtough (he/him)
"Weโll be running through Camden Town" โ I said โ "the sidewalks may be heaving" โ I warned...
...but little did I know that Camden is trialling pedestrianisation!
And so our wonderful group sped through quiet (and) wide (and) spacious roads on our way to Belsize Community Library!
This lovely group โ of Alex, Alison, John, Steve, and Will โ got quickly to our evening tasks.
Alex, Alison, John, and Steve grabbed window cleaning spray, cloths, and (the magically named) squeegees โ and they brought transparency to windows that were opaque with grime and dust.
At the same time, Will and Alex M hunted for litter and dust behind the sofas and on the shelves, removing everything with the help of every cleanerโs friend: the Henry Hoover
Thank you, everyone! You made a lovely difference! And you turned a normal evening into one filled with community!

Ten Lovely GoodGym Folk Made a Difference in Camden Town and We Celebrated Jack's Wonderful 50 Good Deeds!!
Truly hidden amidst the electric bustle of Camden Town is an apartment block...
...Camden passersby see the shops and notice the (beautiful) church, but most walk right by the alley that leads to Barnes House Estate...
...although that changed last night as 10 wonderful folk in red were welcomed in by the equally wonderful Dan and Anna!
Our special group - of Alex, Auriela, Emily, Imogen, Kathleen, Jack, John, Michael, and Steve - started by taking in the communal garden's quietness - outside Camden Town bustled, while inside things felt gentler ๐ง
Across the next 45 minutes, these lovely people scraped weeds from paving slabs, pulled weeds from grassy patches, and swept weeds into tidy compost bags! The section that looked half-weed, ended looking fresh and cared for!
And last night was an extra special occasion: Jack works in GoodGym HQ and I've seen (and benefited from) his truly excellent work - his efforts make GoodGym what it is - thank you for that, Jack, and thank you for your 50 good deeds!!
Thank you, everyone, and here's to next time!!

Camden Report written by Alex Murtough (he/him)
There is a special community that meets - in an unsuspecting basement - on Tottenham Court Road every Wednesday during the year's colder months.
Orchestrated by the brilliant Brooke and the team (including the super kind Russell) at the American International Church, different community groups come together to cook, build beds, and make a home for an evening. ๐
The C4WS Homeless Project provides warm respite from the streets and a supportive step towards stable accommodation.
Since October, our wonderful GoodGym folk have been setting up dining rooms, assembling camp beds, and finding out the best way to fight with a duvet cover.
And last night was no different โบ๏ธ
Our lovely group - of Alex, Auriela, Caitlin, Gosia, Jackie, John, Louise, Siobhan, and Steve - worked with aplomb and speed, and all whilst sharing stories and laughter โฅ๏ธ
We'll certainly be back as soon as the evenings sharpen and darken ๐
Thank you, everyone, for bringing your energy and time last night!!
