"Concrete jungle (la-la!) Man you got to do your best, whoa, yeah"

8 brilliant Barnet Goodgymmers ran 6 km to do some gardening at the Westminster Drug Project.

Meeting at base, we were joined by first time Barnet runner Megan, who has just moved to the area. Welcome!

In the news this week, our very own Task Force Freya (TFF) finished the Bristol Half Marathon at the weekend, knocking an incredible 8 minutes off her pb. Amazing! Well done TFF.

After a quick warm up, mindful of the above average length of our run, we set off. I led, while TFF kindly back marked in her new Bristol Half Marathon t-shirt.

I'm our run there we were joined by three other runners who spotted us as they left the gym. Our route matched their route home so they joined us for a chat for a kilometre or so. I think I persuaded them to join us properly sometime.

Reaching the Westminster Drug Project, it was clear some fantastic progress has been made in clearing their outdoor space. IT was really overgrown when we first visited a few weeks ago. We got to work clearing the weeds away from the concrete paving stones and tidying the edges, quickly smartening it up. Our friends at the WDP run counseling services on Tuesday evenings in the room right next to the outdoor space, so we needed to keep as quiet as possible. Whispered gossiping always feels more exciting doesn't it.

It's also getting a bit dark by the time we get to work in the evenings now. We managed without head torches this week, but the time has arrived!

20 minutes fast weeding later, we were ready to set off. We did a quick team photo them ran down to the car park at Stephen's house for some running drills. We focused on our fast starts and explosiveness, doing some calf lifts, lunge walks, sprint starts and shuttle runs. From there it was a quick run back to base.

Thanks for coming everyone! Hope to see you at another run soon.

This week's Barnet biscuit was jammy dodgers, courtesy of Jodie. Nice one J.
